IMPORTANT STATE TESTING INFORMATION

FOR THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR

NEXT WEEK WE BEGIN OUR STATE TESTING!

WASHINGTON COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF SCIENCE

Monday May 15th

The WCAS (Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science) is a standardized science test that all 11th grade students in Washington State are expected to take. CHS will be hosting this exam on Monday 5/15/2023 during regularly scheduled science periods. Since many of our classes have a variety of grade levels, we will blend test sessions. Science teachers have rosters with each 11th grade students name and will direct students to the room where they will be testing. If you have questions about the WCAS, please ask your students teacher or counselor.

SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENT

ELA - Tuesday May 16, Wednesday May 17 (modified schedule)

Math - Tuesday May 23, Wednesday May 24 (modified schedule)

State Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) is given to 10th grade students and any 11th or 12th grade students who have not met the standard. Meeting the standard on the SBA is a requirement for graduation*. The SBA for ELA will be given on May 16th and 17th. The SBA for math will be given on May 23rd and 24th. The testing days will be late arrival days for all but the testing students.

On SBA testing days, CHS will be on a modified schedule to allow students who are being assessed the best environment to maximize their focus and effort. Testing students must report to school at 7:35AM. Buses will run at the normal times. For those students who are not testing, class will start at 10:00AM. Students who need to ride the bus to school and are not testing will be scheduled with teachers in individual study halls between 7:35 - 9:50. Students who are able to find their own ride to school may report between 9:45 -10:00. Students are not allowed to leave the campus once they arrive.

Student rosters of where they are going to test will be posted in the Commons by the end of this week.

Assessment Schedule for SBA:

9:50 to 10:00 Break

10:00 to 10:55 Block 1
