We're Back...!

CHS students and families...

WE’RE BACK!

Well, almost, don’t stop sleeping in just yet. At CHS we are planning on a return to school full time, five days a week with our normal bell schedule, beginning on Wednesday September 1st. I have included the daily schedule below. We anticipate school as usual, with the exception of continuing to follow recommended safety and health guidelines. This will include requiring students to wear a mask at all times when in the building except when eating lunch. We will offer lunch daily and will prepare our lunchroom with all recautions available utilized, including the use of plexiglass on tabletops. One important adjustment, because we will likely have our common area set up for lunches all day, and not be able to break it down daily, students will not have an area to “hang out” in the commons in the morning and will have to go to class after entering the building. Below I have provided a list in chronological order of important dates to put on your calendar. Of course, some of the activities will be dependent on Health and Safety Guidelines for Covid-19 as the year evolves and could change. All of the dates listed below are also in our Calendars.

FALL SPORTS PAPERWORK (due 8/16)

If you are interested in participating in a fall sport, make sure you visit our website and click on the sports tab. All the information you need to get signed up is there. The sports paperwork needs to be completed by Monday August 16th to guarantee you will be able to practice on the first day. We will be posting our sports schedules on our website as soon as they are available. The first day for Football is Wednesday August 18th. Cross Country, Girls Soccer, and Volleyball all will start on Monday August 23rd. Fall sports schedules are available here on the new Sports website which can be accessed by clicking https://cedarcrestredwolves.com

COUNSELING OFFICE (8/18)

Our Counseling Center will re-open on Monday August 18th. If you need to contact your counselor, you will have to call for an appointment or use the online scheduling application which is available on our website.

FALL CLASS SCHEDULES (8/20)

Scheduling is completed and you should be able to access your schedule for next year on Skyward on Friday August 20th.

FALL SPORTS PARENT NIGHT (8/25)

Wednesday August 25th 6PM at the CHS Stadium. At this time, masks and social distancing will be required for this event.

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION (8/27)

We are excited to see our new class of Freshman, for that matter, we are excited to see all of you! But for Freshies, we are planning our Freshman Orientation which will occur on Friday August 27th from 8AM to Noon. During orientation students will tour CHS, participate in activities organized by our Link Crew and be treated to a gourmet lunch of hot dogs and chips. Any sophomores who would like to tour CHS, can come to school on Friday August 27th from Noon to 1:00PM for a tour provided by our ASB officers.

PICTURE DAY (9/7 & 9/8)

Pictures will be taken during the day and scheduled through students’ English classes.

CURRICULUM NIGHT (9/8)

Our open house/curriculum night is scheduled for September 8th. This is a great time to meet your students’ teachers and hear their expectations for class. This is not a time to conference with a teacher, see that below. We anticipate that this event will take the format similar to last year, with teachers posting an introduction and explanation of their classes online. Parents will then be able to access the event, viewing only the classes they need to, when convenient for them.

SENIORS INFORMATION NIGHT (9/22)

Find out what to expect during your senior year on September 22nd from 6PM to 7:30PM. College applications and Senior Activities, are a couple of the topics which will be discussed. The format for this event is yet to be determined.

FINANCIAL AIDE NIGHT (10/6)

Financial aide night is on October 6th from 6PM to 7:30PM. This evening is dedicated to providing information for our students who are planning to attend college at any level (community college, tech school, four-year university). Students will be introduced to the many options for school and training after high school, the application process, and include completing your FAFSA form. The format for this event is yet to be determined.

HOMECOMING (10/16)

This year homecoming with be on Saturday October 16th at the Museum of Pop Culture at the Seattle Center from 8PM to 11PM. This dance is open to all students at CHS!

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES (10/27)

PT conferences are scheduled for Wednesday October 27th from 4PM to 7PM. We anticipate that this event will allow for the same format as last year, using TEAMS and Zoom for parents to speak to their students’ teachers. We may also be able to offer an in-person opportunity, which will be determined before the event. We had a great deal of positive feedback on this format last year, as it allowed for parents to schedule times to meet with teachers online. We will provide further information about the format for this year after the start of the year.
